A Beautiful Day Exploring Retiro and Reina Sofia

Travel Diary
Day 3
Our hotel in Madrid, Sleep'n Atocha, was located not far from Retiro Park. We told the hotel front desk staff that we like seeing cool architecture, monuments parks so he reccomended a few places for us to check out including the Reina Sofia museum and Retiro Park. The hotel staff told us that it would probably take 2-3 hours to see everything in the park so we decided to make a day of it. The weather was beautiful so why not.

Vegan Travel Interviews: Where in the world did you discover your best meal/vegan find?

Travel blogging has occupied a lot of our time recently. We've been lucky enough to live and work in the UK on YMS visas which has allowed us to get decent paying jobs as well as enough holiday time to take advantage of the cheap travel deals you can get from the UK.

As we've got more immersed in the travel blogging world we've discovered lots of other travel bloggers making their own way. Each blogger has their own personality and method. There are tons of people with advice to share on their own experience and you can learn a lot to help plan your own travels which is why we decided to interview a few vegan travel bloggers. With the rise in vegans every year, we think it is important to share any information out there to help people love their vegan lifestyle.

Scotland Road Trip: Glasgow & Edinburgh

Travel Diary Day 7-9
We've pretty much completed our road trip now. Now leaving Isle of Skye,  it's time to see a bit of Glasgow and try out the different vegan food available in Glasgow.

The Versatile Blogger Award

We started our blog as a way to share our travels with our family back home. We moved abroad on a two year working visa. We now have two months of that visa left. We are honoured that we are starting to get recognition from other travel bloggers for the work that we are doing.

We received the Versatile Blogger Award nomination by Bonnita from Bonita on Safari. On her blog "she will take you to the loveliest sunsets, breathtaking views, peaceful rivers, dense forests, white sandy beaches and blue seas." The Versatile Blogger Award is an award given to bloggers by bloggers as a fun way to discover new blogs.

Scotland Road Trip: Isle of Skye

Travel Diary Day 5-7
Once we completed as much of the North Coast 500 route, we made our way to the Isle of Skye. One of the places we were looking most forward to on our trip.
We continued on our road trip around Scotland crossing the bridge from the mainland to the Isle of Skye.

Vegan Guide to Berlin, Germany

Berlin is the capital of Germany and also the country's most populated city. It is becoming known as the vegan capital of the world. There is lots of vegan and vegetarian restaurants in the city. On top of that there seems to be vegan options all over the place in non-veg places. You can even get the local dish currywurst veganized!

Why You Should Go: It is an exciting city with a variety of unique neighbourhoods. Berlin is well known for it's impressive museums and monuments. The public transport is excellent and very affordable making it easy to get around. The city is full of history and must see historic sights. Berlin is also an affordable city to live in and attracts all kinds of artistic types making the city full of all sorts of interesting attractions to see.

Spontaneous Trip to London/Vegan Life Live event!

One thing that we are really going to miss about living in England is London. We absolutely love London; I'm sure this is because we are tourists. We just love how busy the city is and how much there is going on; Especially the vegan scene! It is really happening, in all aspects, for vegans in London.
For example, I posted on Facebook earlier this week asking if there was anything going on this weekend. (Since we leave the country in just under 8 weeks, we thought we would try to make the most of all the time we have left here. This includes more day trips, weekend trips, Europe trips, visiting friends and attending the vegan socials in Birmingham.) A friend of ours responded on my status saying that there is a vegan festival (Vegan Life Live)  in London this weekend. We thought "sure why not, we love travelling around the UK to the vegan festivals and a few of our friends were attending." We said yes, and we actually ended up getting free entry to the festival as we k…

Scotland Road Trip: North Coast 500

Travel Diary Day 3-5
Our road trip around Scotland continues as we cover as much of the North Coast 500 as possible. It's a race against time as we try to make as much use out of the daylight as possible.
From Inverness, Going up the North Coast 500. We continued on the North Coast 500 for 456 Miles.
We made a point of stopping at the Falls of Foyers which was on our list of sights to see. There was a little cafe right near the entrance to the trail so we had a warm beverage and an IRN BRU before heading down to the falls.

Tis' the Season to be Vegan

If you missed last month's update, find it here: "Happy World Vegan Month"
As the excitement for our next trip was starting to sink in.  We decorated our offices for Christmas and continued to work for a couple of weeks before our road trip and the holiday season.

Best Memories of Twenty Sixteen

It's the new year which is often a time of reflection. People often joke and post memes about 2016 being a particularly bad year in terms of world events. Nonetheless, it's hard for us to look back on 2016 as anything but a great year. We are grateful for the opportunities that we have to travel and see more of Europe than we ever thought we would. The year went by so quickly for us whether we were travelling or working 9-5 to support our travels.

In looking back on 2016 we went through our posts and put together a compilation of our favourite memories and photos. These are our best of 2016 photos and experiences. During 2016 we got to explore 14 beautiful countries. We have met loads of wonderful people and had some very memorable times with our friends from work and from the Birmingham Vegans group as well. Sure, not everything went perfectly in 2016 but when you put things into perspective we have nothing to complain about.

We did a Best of 2015 and really enjoy having this…
