Travel Tips: Being Vegan on the Road

During our two-month road trip across Canada, we did a lot of camping in campgrounds and sleeping at Wal-Marts. We did stay with some friends and family along the way as well. There were even a couple hotels we stayed in on the trip. The majority of the time we made our own food at our campsite or as a picnic in a park while living in our SUV. It was only in major cities that we indulged in checking out the vegan restaurants partially because major cities are where vegan restaurants tend to be.

In order to cook our food, we used a single burner butane stove. We had two pots, plates, bowls, cups, Tupperware containers and cutlery. We also had a couple coolers to store our food. Having a limited amount of supplies to work with we needed to get creative and figure out what worked best. How to Budget for a Long Road Trip Across Canada

We already talked about how to plan a long road trip, now we are here to tell you how to budget for your trip!

Once you have decided on what kind of road trip you would like to do and for how long then you can start figuring out a budget. You will be able to figure out how much you can expect to pay for your trip and whether or not what you want to do is feasible.

In order to budget for a long road trip across Canada, you need to consider the five budget categories of Transportation, Food, Accommodation, Entertainment, and Emergency.

1. Transportation. For a road trip, you will need to either own a car, borrow a car or rent a car. You might need to purchase something especially for the trip or you might have something already. If you need to rent then you can compare prices of different rental companies. Aside from the major purchase of a vehicle, one of the main things you will be looking at in terms of budgeting for transportation is fuel. You need to figure out how much you will need …

Wanderlust Vegans: We are a married couple from Vancouver Island (Canada) that enjoys travelling to new places and seeking out vegan food so we thought the name Wanderlust Vegans fit us well. We fell in love with blogging and making videos. For us, we enjoy taking photos, and videos and then turning them into something that we can look back on fondly. Best Memories of Twenty Eighteen

The end of the year is often a busy time between working, visiting family, the Christmas season, shopping, cooking, and did I mention working? There is a lot going on and so when new years finally comes around it can be a bit difficult to remember all the other great stuff that happened throughout the year.

Here's our story for 2018:

January: We learned that Las Vegas is surprisingly vegan-friendly thanks to blogger Vegans, Baby and we booked a last minute trip there to try out some of the vegan options in Sin City. We even made a handy vegan guide to Las Vegas!

February: We got a lot of blogging done and spent some time with family. We had a great meal at Sukkho Thai. We also starting planning for our summer holidays.

New Years Resolution!

Happy New Year!

As we love ourselves a good 30-day challenge, for our New Years Resolution will be to do a 30-day challenge every month for the whole year! At the end of each challenge, we will bring the idea behind them forward into the next month. By the end of December, we should have 12 new healthy habits in our lives.

We put them into a hat and are drawing at random each month. Our plan is to write a blog/video post about each challenge at the end to keep ourselves motivated to complete it. We have a mixture of easy challenges and hard challenges in hopes to keep us going.

30 Days of Love Challenge

For our second challenge, we have pulled "Write down one thing you love about yourself and/or significant other every day". We thought that this was EXTREMELY fitting for February as it is the love month. Why not love ourselves and each other a little more this month. :)
Rules:

1. Focus your thoughts on yourself and/or significant other during the month.
2. Each day take 5 minutes to write down one thing you love about yourself and/or significant other.
3. Be thankful and grateful for all that you do for yourself and significant other.

The challenge for us:

We decided that we would focus on each other because it seems easier to write what you love about someone else than it is to write about yourself.

We cut up 60 little slips of paper (30 each), we got a sandwich bag each to put our slips in. We kept what we wrote each day a surprise. We sign the day on the calendar to remind ourselves to write something down.
