Skagen, Denmark - Seaside Town
Our cruise ship arrived in Skagen, Denmark. It is a small town that is in the most northern part of Denmark.
The town was really quaint. A lot of the houses were the same yellow colour. We got a map from the tourist information point and then used it to walk around the town seeing the sights.
We made a short vlog about our time in Skagen which you can check out here.
The weather was great aside from it being cold and windy.
We were not exactly sure if this was a museum or not. There was some tourists taking pictures of these houses but we didn't see any signs and it wasn't on our map. Anyway, we decided to take photos in case the buildings were significant.
Wow what a cool windmill.
There was a small museum near the windmill too.
The beach in Skagen is beautiful. We walked to the beach to check it out for a bit.

Skagen is a pretty peaceful little town.
We made our way over to the city centre of Skagen.

There was a pedestrian zone with some shopping and things to see.
We saw some bizarre sculptures and a pretty nice high street.
Skagen is a brand of watch and they were offering some deals to people on the cruise ship. It kind felt like just about everyone walking around in the town was from the cruise ship.
We hung out in the park near a water tower for a bit. We had no idea what it was at the time so we had to google it later. The water tower is no longer in use.
Most of the houses in Skagen are yellow but there was a red one as well. Actually this was another little museum.

Back on the cruise ship we took a picture of the buried church which we decided against walking to since it was a long walk in the opposite direction of everything else.
I love seeing travel on blogs because I know I probably won't take overseas trips. Beautiful pictures and love the story.

DeleteI need to start travelling, so much to see in this world, love the photos it looks like such a calm and serene place.
ReplyDeleteIt was very quiet there. Calm and serene. And yeah, there is so much to see in the world.
DeleteWhat an adorable looking town. And don't you just love a town where you can see all the significant places while just walking around. I didn't see the ULR but maybe another pedestrian did. Wouldn't it be great to findout you got a new subscriber that way, anything helps right?
ReplyDeleteYeah it was pretty adorable there. Maybe someone did. It's a fun way to spread the word about your blog. We mostly wanted the photo.
DeleteI have recently become vegan and am worried it will be difficult to travel! Your blog has helped me realize that I can. Thank you! Great photos too.

That's great to hear. We have lots of fun travelling as vegans. We travel from one vegan restaurant to another a lot of the time. There are quite a few vegan travellers out there sharing tip etc and facebook groups too.
DeleteThis was certainly an adventure, I love the pictures and the video. You make me feel like I was their.
ReplyDeleteThanks
DeleteNow I'm curious to know what that building was. Did you ever find out? That looks like such a quaint little town!
ReplyDeleteWe never found out. It is a mystery.
DeleteI love visiting seaside towns like this. I grew up near the ocean but haven't lived near one in ages. I'll have to see if I can add this one to my bucket list. I especially love taking tons of photos on our trips.
ReplyDeleteYaar, the sea calls to you. We feel the same way.
DeleteI would sooo love to go to Denmark. It looks beautiful and it looks incredibly cold. I don't know if I would want to go in their coldest months but it is on my bucket list.
ReplyDeleteIt was a little chilly there.
DeleteSkagen looks absolutely adorable. It seems like a complete oxymoron - cold and inviting. It seems like a viking Mayberry. I love how bike accessible the entire town looks.
ReplyDeleteIt's a tiny town and flat so a bike is probably all you need to explore.
DeleteWOW! You are so lucky to have gone to see a place that is so different than ours in culture and architecture and language. That is truly an adventure!
ReplyDeleteWe feel lucky.
DeleteI had no idea did Mark has so much to offer. I would really love to visit one day. I will need to get a passport in order to leave the country though. Who knows? Maybe one day!
ReplyDeleteThere are a lot of great places to visit out there and Denmark is pretty.
DeleteLooks like you had a lot of fun visiting and exploring the place. Never been there before but that sounds like an awesome place to visit.
ReplyDeleteIt was a good little cruise port. Not sure if I'd go there for more than a day though.
DeleteThis does look so very cool. I really do like the windmill that you have there. It looks like such a cool small town to visit.
ReplyDeleteThe windmill was very cool.
DeleteSounds like you enjoyed a sweet visit. I like cruises because you get to see a lot in a short period of time economically. And it helps you figure out if you want to go back for a deeper exploration. Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteThank you.
DeleteLooks like a nice off the beaten path destination. You guys make anywhere you go fun.
ReplyDeleteThanks
DeleteOh, the photos from the beach in Skagen i are so beautiful, as well as the other photos in this post <3 I'd like to visit Denmark soon.
