Fortress Cities of the South
We started off our tour in Vigo, Spain. Down at the port there was a shopping centre and waterfront area. We met up with our tour group and then took a bus to the town of Tui, Spain to see a Cathedral built in the 12th century and then to Valença, Portugal to see the fortress town.
We went into the cathedral and walked around.
Behind the Cathedral there was a nice view of the river Minho that separates Spain and Portugal. Across the river is Portugal.
You can see Portugal!
The stone workers use to carver their symbols into the stone work so they were paid accordingly for each stone they did. |
We went back into the Cathedral and looked around.
We left the cathedral and walked through the town.
While we walked along we got to know a few people from the cruise ship. Then we headed back on the bus and drove to Portugal.
The River that separates Spain and Portugal. Spain is on the left, Portugal is on the right. |
We looked around at the shops in Valenca and our tour guide showed us some viewpoints as well.
That is Spain over there. |
We walked back to the town and did some shopping.
We had a glass of wine with a few fellow cruisers from Canada. The wine was only 1.50 euros. |
Our Ship |
After looking around Vigo, we got back on the ship. It was a lot of fun seeing Tui and Valença which are places we might not have travelled to otherwise if we weren't on this cruise. Plus we were happy about seeing Portugal and crossing another place off our list.
