Hiking Along the Canal
Today we decided to check out the canals of Birmingham. First we walked towards city centre to Brindleyplace and walked along the canal back to our house.
This is Brindley Place.
Floating Cafe |
That is Barclaycard Area. They have concerts and events there.
We were walking away from Brindley Place towards our house and it was getting more residential. There is many flats overlooking the canal.
People like to go for walks and runs along the canal. People also bike to work along the canal avoiding the roads.
The path was not longer paved.
There wasn't a lot around in this part of the canal. It's probably not the greatest place to walk alone at night.
There are a few parts of Birmingham that are vacant lots or old factories that are no longer in use.
Check out the greenery around the canal.
You can go on canal boat cruises which we've never done but I imagine that they are a great idea for tourists.
It was a nice walk and great to explore our new city. Maybe by the end of our time here we will know every nook and cranny in this city.
Thank you for reading. If you enjoyed this post and want to see more of Birmingham Canals, check out our post on "Wandering, Hoummus, Curry and Planning."
I love seeing photos that show where other people live. It lets you peek into their lives without being creepy haha. I would have wanted to explore those abandoned factories, with the right lighting I'm certain some stunning photos could be taken inside.
ReplyDeleteLol. Great way of putting it. The abandoned factories were pretty creepy!

DeleteThe canals look so beautiful! I love the photos with the greenery, but yes, you definitely would not want to be walking along some of those places at night! Especially around those empty factories.
