30 Day Instagram Challenge

We thought it would be fun to participate in a 30 day challenge to help promote our blog. We joined another vegan blogger in a 30 day Instagram challenge. It was quite fun and we were rewarded with more Instagram followers, more views on our blog and motivation to keep posting.

Day 1: We have been back in Canada for a month now. We thought a weekend trip was in order. We spent the day exploring and made our way to Fort Fodd Hill to check out the lighthouse.

Day 2: [New Post] We didn't realise when we travelled to Canada it would still be the land of snow. We spent the month with a variety of weather while we explored. Sometimes it was gorgeous and sometimes well, snow. Bring on Spring. April, you better have some great weather in store.

Day 3: Victoria is full of gems. We took a stroll to Fisherman's Wharf and watched the seals play.

Day 4: You know it is spring when the cherry blossoms are in full bloom and as beautiful as ever.
What is your favourite thing in Spring?

Day 5: [New Post] We finally made it to Shoreditch to see all the excellent vegan restaurants. Our friend lead us to all her favourite spots on Brick Lane. Shoreditch is sort of a hipster neighbourhood that has lots of interesting places to see along with many vegan places. We checked out Mooshies, Vida Bakery, Boxpark, Cook Daily and went to Soho for ice cream at Yorica.

Day 6: You have to try the Fillet-Om-Phish at @MooshiesLondon. It's like a fish burger but it's battered eggplant (aubergine) and the tartar sauce is the best. Check out more of our adventures on Brick Lane and Shoreditch on our blog www.wanderlustvegans.com

Day 7: We spotted the elusive white tiger creeping up behind us on the way from Boxpark Shoreditch to Liverpool Street Station. Luckily we got a quick picture of this majestic creature before he disappeared back into the jungle. Check out our blog post on Shoreditch for more.

Day 8: #throwback One cool thing about the Markthalle Basel was the slide. We were looking for a public washroom and the signs pointed to the lower level. There was a few options to get down there. There was an escalator, a elevator and a slide. A slide? We were looking at the slide dumbfounded and then a 40 something woman walked up and went down the slide all casual. She acted like she does it all the time. So then we went for it ourselves.

Day 9: [New Post] It's the second Sunday of the Month so here we have another vegan city guide. This time the guide is for Barcelona. We'd heard Barcelona is mega fun and the hype turned out to be true! The weather was hot, the streets were cool, and the overall feel of the city was positive. The city has a lot to offer vegans as well. This guide will help you find vegan food and decide if Barcelona is right for you.

Day 10: Barcelona is a beautiful city. We liked travelling around the city and looking at all the fantastic architecture. There was cool looking vintage blue trams. We liked the old style of the trams. Also, the streets seemed to have a lot of greenery and trees which really made the city look that much better. If you are planning on a trip to Barcelona check out our guide.

Day 11: Barcelona has many great places to get vegan food such as Cat Bar. The streets are lively at night in Barcelona so why not go out, explore around and go get some delicious vegan food. If you are going or thinking of going to Barcelona then check out our guide to get some ideas on what to see and do.

Day 12: [New Post] We did a day trip to Bletchley Park near Milton Keynes. Bletchley Park is where codebreakers broke the enigma code during WWII which shortened the war by about two years according to experts. Now Bletchley Park is a museum showing off how the codebreaking was done and how it helped advance technology.

Day 13: During WWII code breakers worked night and day breaking German and Japanese encrypted messages in order to gain military intelligence and win the war. Today you can visit Bletchley Park where this work was done and learn about the top secret code breaking activities during WWII. To read more on @bletchleyparkuk see our post.

Day 14: It's #FlashbackFriday. Four years ago today we were visiting Kinsol Trestle in Shawnigan Lake British Columbia with @jackmarsden23 . We went for a hike and the trail kept going and going. It was beautiful and worth a visit. If you are on Vancouver Island then make sure to check out Kinsol Trestle.

Day 15: Happy Easter, it's Spring time which reminds us of visiting Amsterdam and the Netherlands because of the beautiful tulips in bloom in April. Here we are posing with some tulips in a park. If you haven't already, check out our blog post on our trip to Amsterdam.

Day 16: [New Post] We loved travelling all over the United Kingdom as there is many fantastic sights and places that are vegan friendly as well. We have so many favourite places in the UK. We write about our favourites along with the vegan food we happened to find in those places. See our post to read about our top UK destinations.

Day 17: We liked wandering in our free time all over the United Kingdom seeing all the best sights from Edinburgh to Cardiff. Each city and town had it's own character and charm. We enjoyed trying to see as much as possible. We also enjoyed checking out the vegan and veg-friendly restaurants everywhere we went as there was some fantastic places all over the UK. To see the best places to visit in the UK check out our post!

Day 18: We travelled all over the United Kingdom and found our favourite places like Cardiff which was beautiful when we went. There was many parks and cool buildings. There was lots of vegan food to be eaten too. To see more of the best places to visit in the UK check out our post

Day 19: [New Post] Before leaving the UK we decided to have one last trip to London. Being such a big city, London always has something going on. There is also a lot of vegan options in London and we still haven't been to all the vegan restaurants there. It was a great way to have one last hurrah in England before going back to Canada. Turrah England! See you later.

Day 20: For our last day in London we decided to explore and go for a walk before catching our train to Gatwick. The weather was great. We wanted to enjoy our last little time in London and eat delicious food. We made stops at @vxlondon and @cookiesandscreambakery
To see more of our time in LDN check out our post.

Day 21: Before we left London we knew we had to check out the Cookies and Scream Bake Shop in Holloway. We had been to their cookie bar in Camden Market before. They have milkshakes, ice cream sandwiches, brownies and it's all vegan and gluten free as well. They have a 50's malt shop/horror punk theme going on which is so cool you have to go to London and check it out.

Day 22: While in London we went to see the play Wicked. It's a huge production in the Apollo which has to be the biggest theatre we've seen a play in. We booked our seats well in advance and they were pretty decent in terms of view and price. Usually we go to the discount ticket booth in Leicester Square on the day and go to the cheapest show possible but not this time! The show was great so check it out if you are a fan of the Wizard of Oz.

Day 23: [New Post] You all probably know that Ozzy Osbourne is from Birmingham. For this month's spotlight of Birmingham, England we decided to take a look at some of the music to come out of Birmingham. Over the years Brum has spawned a number bands that have changed the course of music history forever. Maybe that sounds a bit dramatic but seriously check out some of the music Birmingham is responsible for.

Day 24: This is the Barclaycard Arena in Birmingham. One of the venues in the city that hosts many music gigs. There is a lot of live music in Birmingham and over the years the city has produced many bands and artists. Check out our post on some noteworthy Birmingham bands.

Day 25: We enjoyed walking around Chinatown yesterday in Victoria. It's the oldest Chinatown in Canada. There are some cool alleys to explore and the cherry blossoms are in bloom.

Day 26: [New Post] After a long flight from London, we made it to Vancouver. We haven't been to Vancouver in a couple years so we decided to do some sight seeing while we were there. Vancouver also has a number of vegan restaurants so we checked a few of them out.

Day 27: One of our favourite vegan restaurants in Vancouver was Gorilla Food. They have moved to another location but another vegan place moved into their old location. We decided to give this new place a shot and see how good their desserts are. It was called @IndigoAgeCafe. We got the key lime pie which was raw and very tasty.

Day 28: It was fun to see Vancouver from a new perspective, after two years abroad. We got to see some friends and walk around Vancouver a bit, seeing all the street art. We even went to a few places for vegan food like the Loving Hut food cart, and Meet on Main. It was kind of a miserable rainy day outside but that was what we have come to expect from Vancouver. To see more on our visit to Vancouver check out our post

Day 29: A great way to travel and save money on accommodation is through house sitting/pet sitting. Meet our adorable roommate for the next couple weeks. There are more responsibilities when traveling this way, but it is a whole other experience on its own.

Day 30: [New Post] We've been to London quite a few times. While living in the UK we were only a 2 hour train away so we went as much as possible. London has a large vegan scene and tons of vegan food to eat. Over the course of these visits we came to find our favourite places to eat, favourite things to see, best bargain places to stay and learned how to get around the city.

Doing a 30 Day Instagram Challange was fun and got us a lot of blog traffic. We got to hone our Instagram skills and thinking up blurps to write about some of our favourite travel photos. We probably won't post everyday going forward but it was pretty fun. We will up our instagram game from now on. We felt like we were apart of a little IG community.
