Spring into More Fun Living Abroad!

If you missed last month's post, find it here: "Leap Year = Extra Day in UK"

March was a busy month for us. We hosted this month's Birmingham Vegan pizza night. It was a great turn out and the pizza was delicious as always. At the pizza night we got to talking to some friends about some trips they had planned. We decided to join them for a few of them. We booked flights for next to nothing and are joining them on a trip in April. We continued working to fund our travels.

That weekend we joined Plant Based Nurse for a trip to Evesham and Stratford-upon-Avon, We had a great day out. When we got back into Birmingham we got ready and then went to The Vegan Engineer's house for his birthday party. We had some drinks at his, and then went to Actress and Bishop. It was a good evening with friends and we hope The Vegan Engineer had a great Birthday.

We then worked the Monday, packed and made our way to Prague, Czech Republic.Crazy Banana Lady and The Vegan Engineer joined us on our travels. To read about our trip to Prague, click here.

When we returned to Birmingham, we had a nap, then went to Cherry Reds to meet some of our friends. We played board games and drank iced teas.

The next morning we headed to the vegan store with Plant Based Nurse. We also stopped at Sainsbury's and holy, look at their plant based milk selection! I couldn't even fit them all in one shot!

Handmade Burger Co. launched a new menu, and were offering buy one get one free on meals. So we headed there after work with The VeganEngineer to take advantage of the deal. They introduced two new vegan burgers. 'Tex Mex' and 'Thai Vegetable'.

This is their vegan burger menu:
"CAJUN VEGETABLE & BEAN* (V) (VEGAN)Our original HBC burger relish, lettuce, tomato & red onion
VEG-MEX* (V) (VEGAN) NEWFalafel patty, handmade Mexican salsa, hand crushed avocado, jalapeƱos, lettuce, tomato & red onion
SWEET POTATO & BEAN* (V) (VEGAN)Mango & ginger salsa, lettuce, tomato & red onion
THAI VEGETABLE* (V) (VEGAN) NEWThai vegetable patty, grilled peppers, sweet chilli sauce, red onion & watercress
CHICKPEA & QUINOA* (V) (VEGAN)Our original HBC burger relish, lettuce, tomato, red onion"
We are quite happy with the choices they have there.

The next night we went to Wrapchic for a Birmingham Vegans social event. They offered us 50% with free extras. We can only have the one burrito there, so there isn't much of a vegan selection, but the soya amritsari burrito is excellent. It isn't vegan by default though. Make sure you ask for it to be made vegan with brown rice, black beans, and salad instead of coleslaw. (Edit: Both of the rices are not vegan) Also, some of the sauces aren't vegan either so ask for the vegan sauces. There is mango and pineapple sauces which are really tasty.
Regular price for these are £4.95, which isn't bad to begin with.

Unfortunately our holidays were over and we had to return back to work. We were quite down from having such a great trip and then having to return to work. That is why we decided to go to London the next weekend. It was also the anniversary of us living in England. We were so glad we went to London for the weekend, as it was just what the doctor ordered. To see our trip to London, click here.

We thought it would be fun to make a Vlog while we were in London. We enjoyed ourselves and want to share our video!

London Vlog:

For Easter weekend we had wanted to go away but it being a four day weekend, it was way to expensive to fly anywhere. Prices tripled. We searched high and low for a weekend get away but we just couldn't go anywhere that weekend without breaking the bank. That's why we stayed in Birmingham.
Dark Chocolate Easter Bunnies!
On Saturday we went to Handmade Burger Co. with Plant Based Nurse and 12yearsavegan for some lunch. Everyone tried the burgers, but Mrs. WLV went for the super salad. It was very lovely.

We ordered Mr. Singh's pizza for our Easter dinner and caught ourselves up with Better Call Saul on Netflix. (Great show, You should watch it)

To end the month we went to The Vegan Engineer's flat and he made us some of his delicious Korma Curry which was amazing as always.

March was a month jam packed with events but we also enjoyed having time to rest and relax since we both work full time and it can get pretty tiring working full time and being always on the go. Not complaining, just making a point that it is important to take a break and recuperate. Don't spread yourself too thin.

  5. I love reading about your travels, especially as a vegan, which I would think would be really hard. You always find the best food though, which is awesome! That plant based milk section in Sainsbury trips me out, I wouldn't think that they would have such a collection!
