Welcome to the New Forest.

March 25, 2015:

Today we went to the New Forest which is a national park and tourist attraction. Driving through the forest there were wild ponies on the side of the road. We stopped in Burley where the village had a witch theme. www.burleynewforest.co.uk/
A manor in the back.

Pony Proof Litter Bins
We stopped in a small park that had some different animals running around. We weren't sure what the deal was but you could go through the fence to be close to the animals if you wanted.
Goose
This goose liked to chase his visitors.
Goat

Goat had his neck stuck his head through the fence to get the grass on the other side. This reminds me of a folk saying.

Manor House
An Evil Goose chased us out of the fenced in area.

After we left the evil goose we headed into the New Forest town.

Looking at the shops in the village

It was not a huge town, so we circled it quite quickly. England has lots of little towns kind of like this one. There was all kinds of witch themed souvenirs to buy everywhere.

The pub in town.
Next we got back in the car and we drove some more through New Forest.

We stopped at the New Forest Wildlife Park.
New Forest Wildlife Park in Ashurst. They mostly had otters and owls.
You can check out the website at http://www.newforestwildlifepark.co.uk/ It mostly has animals native to the UK and a Europe. Some of the animals are considered extinct in the wild or endangered and they have a program to release rehabilitated animals into the wild.

Otter
The first otters we saw were from North America.
Fox
Otters, these little guys were so vocal. It was adorable.

We watched feeding time for the otters which consisted of fish.

Fox
We walked around twice, the first time most of the animals were asleep.
Giant Otter
This giant otter was 6 feet long. We learned that the largest giant otter known was 7 feet.
Deer
This deer followed us trying to eat our shoelaces and coat strings.

There was also an adult park. We decided to play.
The Zip Line was pretty fun.

After a day at the New Forest we headed back to our friends place to relax and watch TV or "Telly". Check out the most ridiculous game show ever Wild Things on Sky 1. You can check out the website at http://www.sky.com/tv/show/wild-things Definitely check out the website.

Thank you for reading. The following day, we continued to explore Dorset. Check out our post "Take a Hike... Through the Countryside."

  6. I love little villages like that. England is my favorite place because those little villages are everywhere!
The animals that you got to see so close are so cool! I love seeing wildlife upclose but not in zoos. I feel like you got to see them more in their natural habitat.

    1. Yeah this place is more of a sanctuary for rescues, not a zoo.
